'America's Child Death Shame'

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Due to the work of numerous children's advocacy groups, including the National Coalition to End Child Abuse Deaths (NCECAD) of which National Children's Alliance is a founding member, the issue of child abuse and neglect deaths in the United States is beginning to attract both national and international media attention.  The British Broadcasting Company (BBC) has just completed an investigative news report on the scope of the problem of child abuse fatalities in the United States.

This story begins airing October 17, 2011 on BBC World News affiliates, including PBS and NPR stations in most American cities.  The entire 22-minute program can also be viewed by visiting:

Long overdue, it is hoped that the BBC's reporting of 'America's Child Death Shame' will help to prompt federal attention and a national strategy for combating the problem.  We encourage you to continue speaking publicly on this issue if we can raise our voices together, we are more likely to be heard by the media, lawmakers and the general public.
